Emerald Star launched

Image
Emerald Star was splashed 3 days ago. We were fueled on the hard at North Harbor Diesel. We are able to stay on their guest dock until Monday (tomorrow). Of course things never run smoothly at first. Fred pulled the shower sump to clean it. It worked fine until he replaced it.  Now the pump runs but it does not pump out water. Off to West Marine to buy a new pump. Of course the new pump is taller than the old one and the lid to the sump box won't close properly. The hole that contains the sump is about 12" x 14". Fred has to stand on his head to work on this. He said a pretty fair amount of #%€¥? language.  On Thursday night (first night on the boat) we were getting ready to shower and the water pump was only working intermittently.  Our electrician, Brent from WavePointMarine, put a new water pump on his account for us.  So Friday Fred replaced the water pump. Friday night we had an electrical storm. It was very pretty but poor Merlin (our Cavalier King. Harley'...

Monday, May 8, 2017 Anacortes to Friday Harbor 21 miles 2 hours

We left our slip at North Harbor Diesel at about 9:45 am and headed over to the fuel dock at Cap Sante Marina.   We picked up Brent from Wave Point Marine.   We have had awesome new Simrad electronics and radar installed over the winter. Brent is here to take us outside the marina and “swing” the compass.   After a short period of time the radar and chart plotter lined up perfectly.   We took Brent back to the marina and then started our summer adventure.   We had a 2 hour ride from Fidalgo Island (Anacortes) to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island.   We anchored behind Brown Island in 50 ft of water. It is raining a little so we are staying warm and dry inside.

Time to stock the boat

We started working on Emerald Star on Monday.  It took half a day just to unload the car.  Now that we have stored the supplies we brought from home  it is time to hit Costco.  We purchase everything we need except meat, fruits and vegetables.  It is easier to cross the border into Canada without them.  As you can see, we went a little crazy.  We try to get as much as possible so we don't have to resupply very often.  We have wonderful storage with a great pantry and a freezer. We are exhausted after working all day on the boat.  We will get a little break tomorrow because we are having the carpets cleaned.
